My husband passed away in August, we were living apart but not legally separated. I was just wondering if I am entitled to the cpp survivor's benefit. The funeral home I dealt with filed all the paperwork for me, but it's been 4 months and I've heard nothing back. I still didn't receive the death benefit either and still owe money to the funeral home. My husband had no life insurance or house insurance, his work insurance I didn't receive because he turned 70 two weeks prior to him dying so the policy we paid into for years was void.

You are entitled to part of the CPP at the very least because they need to consider the whole of your marriage not just the ending of it. I explain this because you are not looking for something you don't deserve. In Canada when people have been married the account is for both of them to deal with for CPP.

It takes a while to go through.

Call the number in this link where you get the application and ask them how you can follow up on your application. They will be very helpful.

Yes, you were still married to him. Contact Social Security and find out how they are coming with the paper work and if there is anything else they need. Sometimes it takes a while. But you do need to check on it.

If you were not legally separated you were legally married and would be entitled to all benefits married couple are.
Common sense isn't anymore..

I would contact SSI, considering you weren't together though why do you feel entitled to it?
