Question:
WOMEN ! Would you marry a man who read comic books ?

I've been reading comic books ever since I was old enough to pick them up . I always figured I had to marry somebody who also liked comic books . When I attended my university, and I first met my psychologist, he said "You might be more attractive if you didn't read comic books !" . It's not the kind of thing I can give up . My father gave up his favorite thing to stay married to my mother, and he really resented her for it . I learned "It's a mistake to give up your favorite thing when you get married !" .

When I started advertising for a girlfriend, I asked for a woman who liked comic books . I told my psychologist, "If I married a woman who didn't like comic books, she might not understand my interest !", and he said "She might not understand it, but she can accept it !" .

My friend Carl says very few women will marry a man who reads comic books . I don't think Carl has enough information to make that decision . I say a woman has to deal with her husband's interests . Like I said, reading comic books isn't something I can give up . I'd have better luck giving up eating or sleeping .

NOW -- Would you marry a man who read comic books ? Would you give up a great guy because he reads comic books ? Is being married to a man who reads comic books that bad ? Does Carl have enough information to make a decision, or is he being ignorant ? If you give up your favorite thing for your marriage, isn't your relationship ruined ? Thank you in advance for your answers .

lol silly question. Comic books are NOT a deal breaker. That's just silly. However, if you do find someone with a similar interest, your relationship will be that much better. :) She's out there for you. BUT BE PATIENT!!! Real love isn't forced. Good luck.

Sorry, I am not a woman but I like comics and I am married and have been in a lot of relationships. Here are a few things

Do not advertise that you are looking for a woman that likes comic books. There is nothing wrong with like comics however by stating that you are looking to date someone who likes comics will

greatly limit your options.

Finding has a lot more to do with your personality and how you present yourself than your hobbies. If you are confident, friendly, and have a good personality you could collect fossilized terd and still have your choice of woman.

I collect comics and few of the woman I have dated collected comics. My wife had very little interest in comics, but because I make more than enough money to support my hobby she has never had an issue with me buying comics. On a couple of occasions she even encouraged me to buy a very expensive book because she new having it would make me happy. Over time I have even gotten her interested in comics.

Basically do not limit your options by looking only for people who are in to very specific things because you could be looking a long time. Look for people who you can care for and will not judge you for the things that you enjoy.

I personally wouldnt care, if that was the guy i fell for.. But typically the guys i am attracted to dont read comic books haha they are more the type to have a surfboard under their arm walking to the beach.

you could find someone because there is someone for all of us. just because u read comic books does not change who you are as a person although some women may find it childish. I guess you need to find the ones that don't mind.

If you were the guy i fell for and then i found out you read comic books, i would not ditch you for this reason and i would not force you to change, provided they were not the entire focus of your life haha

Listen, don't give it up anything for marriage if your wife really loves you she's gonna accept you for who you are and what you do and you gotta do the same for her and in my opinion the comic book has nothing to do with marriage I mean come on it's kind of ridiculous!

For one i would marry a guy who reads comic book i think it's kind of cool :)

P.S. i'm a woman don't let the picture fool you lol

your friend carl is kind of right. few women would be into a man child. but I mean some would be fine with it, for example I like comic books (granted i'm seventeen), but even in a few..like six to ten years when i do find a guy i was crazy about, and have overcome and have dealt with my reservations and cynicisms on marriage and relationships. i think i wouldn't mind it if he was still an avid comic book enthusiast. i think it shows he is a kid at heart which is kind of sweet and adorable really. although it probably isn't a great idea to mention to your S.O. that you were in therapy for a while, or that you "advertised" for a girlfriend. i mean come on bro. are you really that desperate? just be patient. it's called "the one" for a reason, so you can't expect every woman you come across to be your soulmate.

Brett Schenker did some fancy Facebook fooling and compiled a few statistics about the people who self-identify as comic book readers. The American ones, anyway. According to Schenker, “moving it beyond this one country created a data set too large to handle through the way this was gathered.” I imagine that with the popularity of comics in England, France, and especially Japan, that data set was a little tricky to handle. His findings are interesting, if not surprising.

First (graph above) he found that about 25% of the self-identified comic reading population is female (I’m interested in noting that this is far, far less than the percentage of women who play video games, perhaps indicating that the comic industry still hasn’t grasped how to bring in people who aren’t already interested in the medium in the way that the game industry does), and that the grand majority (graph not shown) of readers is between the ages of 18 and 45, giving credence to the industry’s contant worry about bringing in younger readers. Depressingly, half of all self-identified comic readers are single (not in a any relationship at all), but roughly 5% of them are gay, so at least we conform to larger statistical norms in that way.

--------------------------

The study also showed that about half of comic book readers are in a relationship, engaged or married.

Understand the risk factors like your age and maturity at marriage can determine how successful it will be, the anatomy of an affair and what you can do after infidelity. Understand the success factors like the personal and psychological circumstances that will influence your marriage, what are the tools and approaches available to you in dealing with conflict, and numerous other relevant data. All this information is readily available to you whether through self-help material, through a counselor, support group or other venues. The thing is, remember, this is information is not available for you to begin hyper-psychoanalyzing your relationship, yourself and your partner. It's not a matter of spewing trivia for the sake of conversation ' information is there for you to ponder over and internalize to help you transform yourself and your marriage. That includes maturing to such a point that you become more competent in your knowledge but more prudent in approach.

Look, if this is your truly only interest, that might be ONE thing, BUT, if you are open to MANY possibilities in life in doing a multitude of things from other forms of reading to recreation? Than what's the BIG deal? I'm guessing? The genuine "BIG DEAL" HOWEVER, is your failure to partake of all else life has to offer...

IF this is the case? Your problem(S) are larger than JUST reading comic books dear, but extend to the world around you to the extent this may IMPEDE your ability to grow as a human being - PERIOD.

Only you can answer this dear...And I KNOW you KNOW, what I am speaking of. "Tunnel vision" or PERIPHERAL vision, what's it gonna be the REST OF YOUR LIFE?????

I could care less if you read comic books.

One of my best friends is addicted to Anime. I've even read some.

My husband is a Carpenter ... I've spend many hours looking at tools.

My ex was a gamer ... I spend many hours looking at games...

If they are worth it, it doesn't matter!
