Ok so, me and the father of my baby split up and I decided not to file child support on him since we came to an agreement and he said we would give me money every week. He is giving 50 dollars a week, and his paycheck is usually around 800 a week sometimes less, sometimes more. Is this a reasonable amount?

It goes by a percentage of the father's income. In the state of Texas it's 20% of their income per month. So if he makes 800/wk then his avg monthly income is $3,200. OKAY let's just say you'd be getting WAY more than 200/month! Try... around $600/month.

Yah, you're getting ripped off. BIG TIME. Take his *** to court.

It costs WAY more than 200/month to raise a child... and even if it doesn't in your situation then you could still be saving that money for your child's future. S/he's gonna need a car and a college education when s/he gets older. The bills you have now are not the only thing you need to take into consideration.

well how old is your child? a baby? a toddler? in school? Depends on what your child needs every month. diapers, wipes, clothes, shampoo, soap, food, etc anything he or she might need. I have 2 kids with my ex husband and I only receive 250 for each child but this is an agreement we made not the actual amount he would pay if the state ordered it. 200 is pretty good but if he makes that much money he would be ordered to pay more and you deserve more you guys should talk it out or you decide a way to change it.

no it isn't. Go lto court and get child support if this dodo bird thinks that 50 dollars a week is enought money to support a baby then you need to get a legal judgement. Let a judge decide how much is fair but I can assure you it will be more than 50 a week

Generally the state will take a percentage of what the dad makes. I would call a state agency & find out what percentage that is. Every state is different. Good luck!

Take him to court and get the correct amount per state law,per guidelines. Children are very expensive to raise, and you will receive a lot more than what you are receiving now

If you lived where I do, Alberta, Canada, your monthly child support would be $316 a month based on his income.

So yup, in my opinion you are getting ripped off.

None. You didn't go to court. He legally owes you nothing.
