Folding clothes drives me batty because everything is inside out! Help!?

Question

As I am a mature student and off college until September, I am temporarily a stay at home dad. I have taken on most of the house keeping duties. I do not mind this at all but one thing that really pisses me off is folding clean clothes.

The reason for this is that my wife and step daughter throw all of their clothes into the wash basket inside out (because of the way they take the clothes off).

I have raised this with my wife and step daughter as I spend most of my time putting clothes the right way round rather than folding and I estimate that a simple job takes about four times as long because of this.

My wife has agreed to take my wishes on board, but she says that I am being anal.

My step daughter has also agreed to make the changes, but so far it seems to have slipped her mind so this evening I took the trousers and top she was wearing today and put them back in her room because they are inside out.

Am I being unreasonable? Am I being anal?

Yes you are being anal, sorry, but I do the laundry in our house, and clothes are often inside out. Plus, many clothes last longer when you wash them inside out, so it's better for the clothes. If it's bothering you that much, fold and hang them up inside out, they'll turn them right side in when they go to wear it next.

Sorry, but yes you are being anal. If you're in charge of the washing, just deal with it. It only takes a moment to turn them the right way round and is part of the process. In actual fact, a lot of clothes have a washing instruction that requires them to be washed inside out. It protects clothes better.

There are lots of issues in life that can be irritating. That doesn't mean you need to correct all of them to be happy.

Why is something this minor making you frustrated? Think of all the other awful things that could be reality in your life and try to count your blessings.

Just think how much you would long to turn those clothes right-side out if you lost either or both of your "girls."

Get a grip and go on with your life and try to find a way to do it joyfully. Save the drama for the important stuff.

Yes you are being anal. Turn them the right way out before you wash them. In the scheme of things it is not a big problem. If that's as bad as it gets for you then you are very lucky.

You are not being "anal" or unreasonable. If you are the clothes folder, keep folding. Nothing says you have to fold them right side out. Fold them as they come from the dryer. Nice and neat. Your sweetie and daughter will turn them right side out or wear them wrong side out. It then becomes their choice, time and trouble. You've done the folding. They do the wearing however they want to.
