Why did my ex give me a Christmas gift?

Ok here is the deal! I work for me ex fiance. We ended the relationship on Christmas day ! It was after a heated argument.
So I took a few days off after the holidays and upon my return from work we decided that this was not going to work anymore. I still work for him and we have no contact outside of work with each other. As he wants us to only interact at work.
We had still bought each other Christmas gifts and I had given him mine as I still loved him but was just angry with him, by leaving it on his desk, Christmas eve.
Then this past Tuesday, upon entering my office I find on my desk a Christmas gift from him that he had originally purchased Christmas eve as well. Why would he still give me my Christmas gift after he is the one who ended it. And at that it was stuff that I had wanted from Victoria's Secret.
I mean if you were so angry with someone and wanted nothing to do with them anymore, wouldnt you return it especially if you had the receipt still. Why did he give me the gift still, what am I missing.
I know that I would not give anyone that I had broken up with their Christmas gift! Again he is my boss as well!

You guys need to stop acting like kids . He has a business you work for him you guys have it all together but still act like children

For the same reason you gave him a present. He wants to get back with you, and probably you will.

Maybe he has a hard time saying that breaking it off with you was a bad idea.

The ball is in your court. The choice is yours. You can simply ask him, or go find someone else to wear it for.

Probably bc you gave him a gift so it was fair. He still probably cares for you.
