Hi,

I am married and I would like to ask if I can use my Last Name as my Middle Name and use my husbands last name as my Last Name? Do I need to go to court to do that? I believe I don't have to go to court to change my middle name through marriage. What's the law on this?

If you are losing your middle name all together you have to do an official name change. Just because you want your maiden name to be your middle name doesn't make it legal.

That is Old School. My mother and most women automatically took on maiden names as their middle names after they married. Here in Ohio, when you marry it is as simple as notating on the Application for the Marriage License what name the Bride will use. In some locales, changing your name generally requires some sort of documentation showing both your old name and your new name. Most people use a certified copy of their marriage license or divorce papers.

Other locales use the common law rule in dealing with name changes. Under the common law rule, all you have to do is use your new name "consistently, openly and non- fraudulently, without interfering with other people’s rights."

easy just go down to the s.security adm with proof of marriage to obtain a new s. security card same number of course and when you get mail or anything just make sure you change your information. i just got married recently and my last name is my middle name and my last name is my hubby name.

I'm afraid I don't really know a lot about this, but I do know that you have to change your name via deedpoll. The website listed below will give you al the information you require.
