Was I wrong to do this to the cab driver?

I did grocery shopping and ordered a cab to take the stuff home. The cart was full of things. A cab showed up and I gave the cart to the cab driver and got into the cab. The cab driver came to my door and said that he isn't going to the load the groceries into the cab, its not his job.
I've used cabs for a long time, and they've always picked up things and put them into the trunk. This one refused to do it. So I said that everyone else does it, why can't he? He said that its not his job and that he can help me, but he won't do it. He got into his cab and left my cart in the middle of the road. From his car, he rolled down his window and started yelling things that I didn't quite hear but it sounded like he was telling me again that its not his job.
I was furious. I said never mind and called the cab company where he was from. The cab companies manager spoke to me and thought that it was unacceptable, so he immediately suspended the cab driver.
Should I feel bad about him being suspended? He kinda deserved it in my opinion. I was so humiliated.

It was a simple suspension.

He would have been reinstated, after being counselled, by the actual cabs owner.

You see the man u were dealing with , was most likely NOT the owner of the cab. But more a shift driver (employee) of the owner.

The suspension is put in place, until the owner is notified. Then the owner counsels the shift driver.

What this particular cab driver fails to realise is this.......................People may alot of money to use cabs. The minutes, a driver or drivers are seen to be "non helpful" in terms of customer service, or show an attitude not conforming with customer service values.

Then people will STOP using cabs and therefore not give them the cash revenue they have become accustomed too.

Its like this..........Had that cab driver, gone that extra mile, to load your bags of groceries. He could very well have gotten a tip.

Thats something he lost, and now has to understand that next time, better service needs to be provided.

No, you should not feel guilty in any way.

This person failed you.

Hmmm ive never heard of a cab drivers job being to also help lazy people load their groceries! Some may do that for a tip or kind hearts but it is not their job description and probably was very embarassing and demeaning to the person having you expect that from them as if they are your butler service or something! You aught to be ashamed of yourself and you owe the person a huge apology...and should learn people are not put on this planet to serve you...do it yourself until you find a cab service that is called"cab and maid service"-disgusted

h, properly you recognize i'm no longer interior of sight. yet i will attempt with my answer and optimistically it is going to help. First, if I have been interior of sight, i might force my own automobile. Why pay somebody else to do what you're able to do your self? Secondly, the final time we've been far flung from abode and mandatory a cab we had the hotel call a business business enterprise that they use. We have been given a great motive force who substitute into courteous and on the spot. So he stated we call him direct the subsequent time we mandatory a experience someplace. If he wasn't accessible he'd deliver his brother (who worked for yet another cab business business enterprise). We ended up having 2 drivers accessible throughout some 16hr window to haul us around. the two adult men have been Haitians and intensely attentive. We in basic terms mandatory to grant them some notice (20-30mins) as to as quickly as we mandatory a experience and that that they had take place to help. the ethical of the tale: in case you're shifting around in a undeniable section then get the call and cellular # of a cab motive force you like. he will savour the repeat business business enterprise and you will savour the provider.

It is not his job to help you while you sit and relax. You cost someone his job because of a preconceived idea of what YOU think is part of their job description. If he wanted to help on his own that was his choice, but when you gave him the cart and got into the cab and did not even make an effort to help put up your own bags, you were basically taking the choice out of his hands, if he was out of the car it is possible he would of helped if you would have used your manners and asked for assistance. But instead you said everyone else does it, why can't he.

You shouldn't feel bad. He didn't do his job correctly, therefore he pays the consequences.
