Depends where you are and where he is. Most countries have a child support guide (tables) which the courts use to determine the amount of child support a non-custodial parent should be paying, based on that person's income tax return figure. In Canada, the recipients income isn't taken into consideration -- just the payor's income. The recipients income is treated differently in different states.

Here are links to tables in the different States:

Here's a link to Canada's simplified tables:

Well the judge looks at BOTH incomes when he/or she decides the amount.

Hopefully Dad will contribute more things such as shopping for school clothes, supplies etc. on his own. Many Dad's can help out directly when he has the child over and can take the child out on his own and not hand over money to the ex wife.

Your Dad had a good lawyer I say. Hopefully he will 'man up' and give you more on his own.

That depends on the state. In NY, the parent who does not have custody of the child pays 17% of his salary if it is court ordered. If 2 parents agree on a certain amount and it is not court ordered, that is THEIR business and THEIR decision. It sounds to me that your mom is accepting an amount they agreed upon.

Whatever the courts deemed he should be paying, if anything.

Actually, it is your business to some degree. While the money would go to your mother it is slated for your care and your care only. That means your mother is only allowed to spend it on you or things which involve you. So she could spend it on gas money but only on gas that she needs to take you places, not gas so she can go places for herself. And she can't spend it on that new dress or other things like that. So it is your business whether or not the amount of money being given for child support actually ends up being spent on you or not.

Actually, none of your business. It is between your parents and perhaps the courts. Very likely the agreement was made between your parents and he provides other support including paying medical bills.

That has probably already been decided by the courts. It is a matter between your parents and the judge and, honestly, that is not something I as a parent would discuss with my child.

Why do you wanna know the money is for you but does not go to you it goes to your mother the person taken care of you ..So stay out of grown folks business..

That's for the courts to decide, not you. It also depends on how old you are and who has custody.
