?

I am looking for my parents marriage certificate. I have got some sort of Reference number which only states the volume number and page number.

How then could I get a copy of the certificate?? Some sites are asking for the above info, and a reference number. The only info I have found is stated. How would I find out the reference number??

Please no stupid answers.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You go to that court house and ask to speak to marriage records. Then you give them the volume number and they'll bring that particular book out to you, then you look up the page number. Then you ask them to make a photo copy.

You can't find it online. They can't in case either of those two are still living.

This information will be on the BMD (Birth, Marriage and Death) of Ancestry.

The information you speak of will take you to the exact record.

To get the marriage certificate you will need your parents names obviously.

Husbands name

Wifes maiden name

Year of marriage

Area of Marriage

Vol number

Page number

There may not be a reference number included, so you can ignore that. What's important are the what I have listed above.

Order the certificate from the General Register Office (GRO). Sending off to the district they married in would be best.

This is the sort of question you should put onto the genealogy page, they might be able to give you more information.

Contact the County Recorders Office in the County that they were married in. If they got a public license, then you should be able to request a copy no problem.

Go to the registry office where your parents were married, you should be able to get a copy there. If it`s too far away use one of the internet sites but be warned it takes ages if you order online.

Go to the county clerk where your parents were married.
